The house is set on a knoll in the Waitakere Hills, surrounded by thick vegetation. There are stunning distant views to Rangitoto and downtown Auckland through the spindly trunks of the Manuka trees.
Location: Auckland NZ
A clearing was formed in which to build with minimum impact on the local ecology, retaining as many trees as possible. The wings of the house project out of the ground to the north and east, stretching towards the views of the city and harbour.
The house is sheathed in zincalume corrugate. When the forest closed in once more the silver metal still captures the light and brings the sun into the clearing.
