This was an experimental project inspired by an offer made by the New Zealand Government to enable a ‘Fan Zone’ to be created on Auckland’s Queens Wharf for the Rugby World Cup 2011.

CAA proposed a giant tension membrane umbrella as a major landmark on Auckland’s waterfront, reaching out into the Waitamata Harbour.  Its function was to be a fan-zone- community resource, sheltering markets, event centre and a cruise ship terminal.
